A Day at the Derby!

In Portland, the local (non-functioning) racetrack throws a huge all-day Kentucky Derby party every year! Our local lolita community decided to get dressed up and get in on the fun this year. It was really cool to go to an event in lolita and not be asked why I was dressed up or if I was a performer! 

Here's what I wore.

I got to try mint juleps for the first time! They were only $4 each so we all uh... drank a lot of them lol. Unfortunately I've discovered bourbon isn't for me, but a cold drink was very much appreciated on this insanely hot day.

We want to make the Kentucky Derby party a yearly meet since it was so fun! Next year I might even try making my own hat; the one I wore I picked up at a local shop. Maybe I'll even try to drink mint juleps again!

♡ Happy Valentine's Day ♡

Valentine's Day has a soft spot in my heart. As a child, my parents made Valentine's Day a very family-oriented holiday, more about loving the people around you than about romance. I was lucky enough to go out on a Valentine's Day date with my boyfriend this year, and I got to wear lolita too!

We saw Zoolander 2 on our date. It was about what I expected; kind of dumb but still funny :) We got Ben & Jerry's beforehand too!

After the movie, we went home and I cooked us spaghetti and meat sauce with garlic bread. I am not a good cook nor do I cook often, but I was happy with how it turned out!
